Tell us more about yourself:
We are a couple who appreciate and embrace the cosiness, warmth and zen-ness of a minimalist home.
How have things changed since you have moved into your newly renovated place?
Our lifestyle has changed significantly since we moved in; moving from a hoarder lifestyle to a minimalist lifestyle. Our cosy home has also made us look forward to coming home every day after a long day of work.
What do you think about minimalism, and its growing influence on many people as design and lifestyle?
We think that minimalism is all about being simple, decluttering things in your life and reducing waste. We feel that it has a growing influence on people because they see the benefits of this lifestyle – likely the calmness of a minimalist home brings calmness into their lives.
It has helped us a lot in reducing waste and saving money. We have since purchased less unnecessary items for the home, so we could keep it neat and tidy. I guess career-wise, our home has served us as a comfortable nest to rejuvenate and recharge, so that we are ready for a brand new day at work.
What was your inspiration when you were setting up your home?
A home as comfortable as Muji and Hvala.
What were some of the reasons you chose The Minimalist Society?
Our style and goals aligned.
Were there any challenges you encountered when you were setting up your home?
For me (Shufen), it was fitting the huge amount of belongings I have from my parent’s place into our new home! But it gave me the chance to force myself to clear out things that I have not used in recent years.

What are your favourite things to do around your home?
Watching Netflix in our living room, cooking, taking instagram-worthy shots at home (pretending that we’re in a cafe).
What is your favourite space or room in your minimalist home?
Our favourite space is the living room. We love how spacious and comfortable it is. Especially when we get to see our pretty TV feature wall done by TMS!
What is/are your favourite piece(s) of furniture inside your home?
The beanbags we placed in our cosy living room!
What is/are your favourite decorative piece(s) inside your home?
The nature-themed canvas paintings we hung up on the wall behind our living room.
