3 DECLUTTERING TIPS FOR MESSY HOMES
Decluttering could be such a drag since it is a time consuming and tedious process. As a result, many of us just put it off for another day, another month, another year. Before you know it, you now have a messy home with stacks of things lying around and you find yourself having trouble locating items in your house. Well, that’s definitely not the way a home should be. So for all you busy bees who don’t have time to clean out your homes, here are 3 simple ways for you to try out!
1. The Minimalist Game
The minimalist game is good for people who place sentimental value on things and can’t bear to throw anything out. It helps to make decluttering fun and eases you into the habit of decluttering. How it works is that number of things you declutter each day corresponds to the day of the month. So you get rid of 1 thing on the first day of the month, 2 things on the second day of the month respectively. By the end of the month, you would have gotten rid of almost 500 items! Simple right?
You could try keeping a donation box in your house. Start by picking up any item in the house and put it away. If it does not have a home, either find a place for it or into the donation box it goes. Be honest with yourself about what you should keep in the house. If you find yourself not being able to find a home for your item, chances are you don’t actually need it. So just learn to let go, put it in the donation box.
3. Organise Along The Way
If you lead a busy lifestyle and really don’t have time to spare, you can organise as you go about your day. Whenever you come across something that is out of place, take the extra effort to put it away. Start with the visible trash and throw it away immediately, followed by the things that you don’t find yourself reaching for. By doing so, you are slowly but surely taking the right steps towards a neater home.
There you have it! 3 quick and simple tips that could have you get started on your journey towards a neater and clutter-free home! It’s time to make way for the things that truly matter.
